The VOXPOP Lisboa project

VoxPop is an innovative project that aims to promote the digital transition of the mobility sector in the Portuguese capital, through a change process based on the 3 main vectors of digital transformation: People, Processes and Technology.

The project arose from the need identified by different local actors to work in a more collaborative and transparent way to share data of public interest, in order to enable the identification of opportunities for improvement in Lisbon’s mobility and transport system and more efficient planning and resource management processes.

VoxPop thus aims to address a number of non-technological challenges, including governance, business models, user focus and unintended consequences of digital innovation.

Why Lisbon

The project is led by the City of Lisbon (CML) and involves various actors of the local innovation ecosystem (municipal entities, private companies and civil society).

VoxPop is funded by Urban Innovative Actions, a programme promoted by the European Commission that aims to finance ambitious and innovative solutions to challenges in cities. The VoxPop project started in 2019 and will end in August 2023.

VoxPop included an ‘Open Call’ aimed at a community of innovators, in which a significant part of the project budget – EUR 1 million – was earmarked for the development of digital solutions that meet the accessibility and safety needs of the city’s most vulnerable people.
Willeasy is one of the 18 companies awarded the Open Call.

Willeasy's solution

Willeasy’s objective within the Open Call Voxpop Lisbon is to make Lisbon a more attractive city from a tourist point of view by bringing innovations that fill unresolved bottlenecks:

    • Availability of open data on the accessibility of public transport and the functioning of the tools to enter and exit metro stations (escalators, lifts and stair lifts).
    • Collection and sharing of objective data on the accessibility of housing, shops and restaurants/bars.
    • Collection and sharing of information on the accessibility of tourist/cultural points of interest.
    • Creation of routes for visiting the city, creating differentiated solutions according to people’s accessibility needs.
    • Availability of a website for consulting all the information made available.
    • Provision of mobility aids (scooters, wheelchairs, pushchairs…).

While Lisbon works to become accessible, we provide the tools to make it visitable and liveable now and for all people.

Our Partners

Testimonials

"Congratulations on your project and your excellent work.

Your application is very useful and well thought out.

We have been working in inclusive tourism for about 15 years, providing the rental service of mobility support products to customers from all over the world visiting Portugal.

We also provide assistance and carry out minor repairs to tourists' mobility equipment.

In addition, we have personal health teams that can assist people in hotels or in their holiday homes.

I will be happy to be your partner."

Raluca Istratescu - Tour Guide, Interpreter Guide

"We are always willing to participate in projects that make this museum more accessible to everyone. For us, this project represents a great opportunity. Sixty per cent of our audience is Italian and in Portugal I believe there is no platform with as much information available on accessibility as Willeasy's, which is very comprehensive."

Celia Nunes Pereira -Director of the Convento do Carmo Archaeological Museum

"I am so proud that you guys are doing something like this for someone who really needs restaurant help, and yes, we are more than happy and will also update our information via your website."
